Pediatric Dentistry

Pediatric dentistry is an aged defined specialty that provides comprehensive preventative care and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence and teen age years, including those with special health care needs.

A specialist in pediatric dentistry is one who has completed a general collegiate education, earned a doctoral degree in dentistry from one of the country's colleges of dentistry, and has completed two or more years in a residency program in an accredited university or hospital. This educatrional experience qualifies the specialist as being uniquely trained to care for the oral health of infants, children and teenagers.

There is no limitation to what type of treatment they provide. Pediatric dentists are primary providers so there is no need to refer patients to doctors outside the office.  Parents can choose to have their children evaluated and treated by a pediatric dentist just like they can choose to have their child treated by a pediatrician.

Bring in your child when the first tooth appears or no later than his/her first birthday*.  Starting early examination and preventive care will protect your child’s teeth now and in the future. This examination allows the pediatric dentist to examine the shape of the baby's jaws and the condition of the oral tissues.
